Stone massage

Stone massage, often referred to as hot stone massage, is a type of therapeutic massage therapy that involves the use of smooth, heated stones as an extension of the therapist’s hands, or by placing them on the body. The localized heat and weight of the stones aim to warm up and relax muscles, allowing the therapist to apply deeper pressure to those areas without causing discomfort. The stones are usually made of basalt, a type of volcanic rock that retains heat. In addition to providing physical benefits such as relieving muscle tension and pain, stone massage is also used for stress and anxiety reduction. It requires professional training and knowledge to ensure safe and effective application, particularly in managing the temperature of stones.
