Manual Lymph Drainage

Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is a specialized form of physical therapy used to stimulate the flow of lymph, a fluid in the body that removes waste and toxins from bodily tissues. This technique involves applying gentle, rhythmic, and circular movements to specific areas of the body to facilitate the drainage of lymph back into the circulatory system. MLD is primarily used in the context of treating lymphedema, a condition characterized by swelling due to a blockage in the lymphatic system. It is also used to accelerate recovery from surgery or injury, reduce swelling and discomfort, and improve overall immune function. MLD should be performed by a certified therapist trained in this specific technique.
