Neuromuscular Therapy

Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) is a specialized form of manual massage therapy used to treat soft tissue pain and injury. It works by targeting the nervous system and the muscles it controls, hence the term ‘neuromuscular.’ The therapy involves the manipulation of soft tissues, including muscles and connective tissue, to balance the central nervous system. Neuromuscular therapists use a comprehensive approach, focusing on factors like trigger points, nerve compression or entrapment, ischemia, and postural distortion. NMT is used in the context of pain management, sports injuries, or other musculoskeletal dysfunctions, often as part of a broader physical therapy or rehabilitation program.
